The After Archive
The After Archive is a series of scanned images that document objects from the Huber Coal breaker in Ashley Pennsylvania. Marked by abandonment or obsolescence, the objects point to a kind of afterlife. A notebook becomes a record written by the weather; stalactite fragments, broken from disused industrial structures, register unexpected patterns of growth. The sense of ruin in these pieces represents neither death nor regeneration but a diversion, a metamorphosis beyond planning and intent. Taken together, they constitute a catalog of loss, an inventory of abandonment and a reverie on the passage of time.
